How will these classes be useful to me?

These classes will help you find the technical skills to bring your creative visions to fruition.  When I started out, the sheer number of options and buttons on the camera were incredibly confusing and a wee bit frustrating. I could learn all about what the buttons did, but I had no idea when to use them or in what combination to get what I wanted. In fact, I wasn’t really sure what to call what I wanted.  How could I get anyone to help me when I didn’t even know what the technical name for the technique I admired? That’s what these classes are about.

What all do I need to take this class?

A DSLR (digital single lens reflex) will work best with these classes.  I shoot Nikon and Sony. Honestly, if I were talking to my best friend, I’d say:

All you need to get started is a DSLR.  Buy whatever price range you feel comfortable with. The higher the megapixels the better but realistically if you’re not printing 5 ft canvases you really don’t need more than 16 megapixels or so. Choose a package that comes with a lens and a memory card and you’ll be all set. You’ll want to make sure it has a fully manual setting and interchangeable lenses.

If you’d like more ideas, this Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens camera is a great example.

Which editing programs will you cover?

We are going to have a look at a few of our options in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9,  Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 as well as  Adobe Lightroom 4.  If you’ve purchased actions and / or presets, please bring them, we will talk about running those as well.
I am currently researching free editing software and plan to add a section covering that as well. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
